A disappointing exit from the Under 18 boys plate competition, losing 1-5 to Saffron Walden. Playing at Sharnbrook, because of the junior tournaments, we were soon on the back foot with some of our more experienced players looking tired after Saturdays games. We trailed 0-2 early on, but came back in to the game when Steven Adams scored the goal of the game, expertly turning in a drilled cross. Unfortunately we conceded another goal shortly before the break and trailed 1-3 at half-time. We had opportunities on the break but never really exerted concerted pressure on the visitors defence. The score remained the same until the final few minutes of the tie, mailnly due to a string of fine saves from man of the match George Johnston. As we pressed forward further gaps opened up and the visitors sealed the game with 2 further goals in the final 10 minutes.

Some encouraging performances from our less experienced players but we werent able to match the opposition, many of whom play together in their 1st team in Division 2, who were worthy winners.

After another enjoyable season last year, we will once again be entering a team in the Boys Under 18 National Cup Competition. Dates for the Competition are:

R1: 4th October 2009
R2 Cup / R1 Plate: 15th November 2009
R3 Cup / R2 Plate: 29th November 2009
R4 Cup / R3 Plate: 14th February 2010
QF 7th March 2010
Finals 10&11 April 2010
