The popular girls summer academy training sessions run by BHC have just been confirmed and will be starting Friday 2nd June for 6 weeks.

Girls aged between 12 and 17 inclusive are invited to attend a six-week hockey academy program run by Bedford Hockey Club this summer term. The extended 1 and a half hour sessions run on a Friday night will be led by level 2 qualified coaches with the aim of fast tracking the development of girl’s technical skills and the ability to be able to apply them in a match context. Each week we will focus on different core skills with assistant guest coaches from the Ladies 1’s also involved to add their expertise as well as a dedicated goalkeeper coach.

Course dates will be...
Friday 2nd June - 6:15 until 8pm (starting with an introduction meeting)
Friday 9th June – 6:30 until 8pm
Friday 16th June -6:30 until 8pm
Friday 23rd June – 6:30 until 8pm
Friday 30th June – 6:30 until 8pm
Friday 7th July – 6:30 until 8pm all at Bedford Hockey Centre, Chester Road, MK40 4HL

The invitation extends not only to existing BHC u18 and u16 academy players but also girls not currently playing club hockey with a view to providing an introduction to that opportunity ahead of the new hockey season as well as BHC juniors soon to make the transition into senior hockey. The pitch will be split into two halves, with a session for older girls playing 4th team and above and a development session for 5s, 6s and those joining from the junior section.

We would ask local schools to share information about these sessions and pass on details/ put forward any girls who might be interested. The cost of the 6 sessions, will be £30 which covers the pitch hire (please make cheques payable to Bedford Hockey Club) OR you can do £6 per session - pay as you go.

To confirm your daughter’s place please email katecostin@btinternet.com or call 07513 025712 – Girls must be dropped off and registered ahead of each session and picked up afterwards from the club. NB - Girls looking to walk over to Biddenham for collection should always be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
