After 13 years in the role as chairman, Rob Moulam’s contribution to the club was recognised with the BHC Tankard at the annual awards dinner.

During his tenure, the club has grown tremendously with seven men’s and six ladies sides as well as a strong masters and junior section. Rob has been instrumental in putting in countless hours behind the scenes particularly with regards to the clubs double astro facility and maintaining a strong financial position.

It’s been a fantastic season on the pitch too with four promotions on the ladies side of the club including the return of National League hockey to Chester Road with the 1st team winning the East Prem. The vision is for the club to retain National League status and the men are looking to achieve this status in the near future too, building on their fourth placed finish which was aided by the contribution of double award winner Simon Dolan (Mixed and Men’s Player of the Season) and Alex Drummond (Services to the men’s section). Young player of the year went to Taylor Bland for the second time, whilst Joe Sims won Most Improved men’s player and Simba Chigwada was the leading men’s goal scorer this season.

Alisha McLeod and Kate Costin were both double winners picking up their respective player’s player votes plus Most Improved and the Durham award for player of the season respectably. In her debut season at the club, Alice Baker netted the top goalscorer gong whilst fellow u16’s Chloe Pigram picked up the Cod Club for Young player of the year. Team of the year for the ladies went to the Ladies 4's who went the whole season without dropping a single point whilst the loudest cheer of the evening was saved for Fran Stedman who was honoured with the Services to the ladies section award after over 42 years playing at the club, at every level and helping develop and inspire thousands of others along the way.

Speaking about the event Rob Moulam said “We’ve had another great season at BHC and the results of this can be seen by our growth and success on the pitch. We wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do without the significant number of volunteers helping out at the club through coaching, umpiring games and covering our administrative requirements. The whole club can look forward to next season in particular with our ladies 1st team returning to the National League."
