Bedford Hockey Club is looking to appoint a ladies coach to lead their second team for the 2015/2016 season with responsibility over the weekly training session which will be combined with the ladies 3s squad. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work within the most successful clubs in the area; with six men’s and five ladies league teams playing on a Saturday as well as a thriving junior academy and master’s teams. Bedford HC ladies second team have recently secured back to back promotions and now play in East Division 1. The squad has a balance of youth and experience, with many talented players as well as a great desire to improve as a team and establish themselves as one of the top second teams in the country. The ladies 3’s also play a very competitive standard of hockey in the 5 counties premier league and are very supportive of the younger players coming through the club with aspirations for a top 4 finish this campaign.

The successful candidate will be part of and will be expected to work closely with the ladies selection committee.

Skills and Qualifications

• Level 2 coaching qualification (or seeking to work towards – club support available)
• Reliable and committed to a club ethos
• Ambitious with the ability to enthuse and motivate others
• Ability to give effective and constructive player and team feedback
• Good communication skills with both players and other club personnel
• Good leadership and organisational skills

Main Duties

• To prepare high quality training sessions to be delivered to the 2nd and 3rd team squads (1.5 hours per week for the duration of the season)
• To attend 2nd team friendly, cup and league games at the weekend if possible (A player/coach would also be considered)
• To prepare the 2nd team thoroughly both physically and tactically for the weekend game
• To select 2nd/3rd teams for the weekend in consultation with the captains and working alongside the rest of the ladies selection committee.
• To become familiar with and comply with league rules when preparing/playing league matches.
• Comply with the EH Coaches code of conduct and all BHC club policies
