The Bedford Hockey Club annual awards drew the season to a finish on Saturday evening with the sold out event providing opportunity to recognise the success of the Mens 3's who won East Division 4SW as well as present awards for outstanding performances to a number of players as well as thank volunteers who have helped behind the scenes over the past season.
The Men's player of the season award went to Lee Hoggett whilst the Durham for the top ladies player went to Rachel Jackson. Taylor Bland and Ellie Rattu picked up the young player of the year awards respectably.Next Steph Holyoak received the ladies top goalscorer award for the 3rd year in a row, whilst Carl Pearson from the mens 3's picked up the equivalent award on the men's side before doubling up with his teams players player gong.
Josh Rattu won the services to umpiring award before James Oakley was recognised for all this hard work as men's club captain and for the club as a whole by winning the BHC tankard for services to the club whilst perhaps to biggest cheer of the evening was saved for Joy Leeson who received the Deb Weiland Trophy for services to the ladies section. Joy has initiated a new ladies masters side at Bedford this season whilst she is still an incredibly enthusiastic and committed player and a great inspiration to all at the club.
