The Bedford ladies teams have had a season of unprecedented success with 4 out of 6 teams promoted

As the hockey season reaches its final weekend, 4 out of 6 ladies sides have already confirmed promotions including the ladies 1st team back into the Investec National league.

The ladies 4s were the first squad to guarantee promotion and have been the run away leaders of 5 Counties div 3. They remain unbeaten and are 21 wins from 21 games with just one final hurdle to overcome ahead of a potential "invincible" accolade. Next across the line were the ladies 5s who have scored over 100 goals on their way to promotion and this weekend have the chance to go up as champions in their final league game away against third placed Blueharts.

Last weekend, Jenny Willson's 6th team were also promoted, in their first ever season of league hockey. The 6's is a breeding ground for talented youngsters to develop and lots have already moved up into higher terms which is a great sign for the future. This combined with experience of some more mature players, returning to the sport and some mums playing with their daughters makes the atmosphere in the team wonderfully supportive.

Finally on Sunday, the L1s confirmed a return to National League after 2 years in the East Prem. The aim is now to sustain this top level of hockey at the club and give the youngster coming through a clear pathway into the first team which is supported by the clubs academy programme.

Masters teams have also got further than ever before in the National Cups with the 045s reaching the quarter finals and 035s reaching the semi finals. We look forward to recognising these achievements further at the annual awards and are already looking to strengthen our playing squads over the summer so if you are looking to join a club on the up and play a part in our future successes, do contact Kate Costin, ladies club captain on 07513 025712 or katecostin@btinternet.com - we are particularly looking for players with national league aspirations or experience. A big thanks must go to all captains and coaches for their roles in these successes.
