2016/17 Season at Bedford Hockey Club

2016/17 Season at Bedford Hockey Club

After a successful season last year at Bedford HC, seeing 2 men's teams with their respective leagues in the outdoor and indoor format of the game, along with our men's 2s losing to flicks in the final of the 2s plate. The plans for next season are in full swing.

Men's 1s:
Our Men's 1s will be continuing their push for National League under the guidance of captain Paul Henwood, coach Simon Shorter & 1s manager Dan Sims. Pre-season fitness has already started & the summer men's training camp on a Tuesday night is due to start shortly being lead by 1s coach Simon Shorter. If you'd like more information or to come along please contact Simon, Paul or men's club captain James Oakley.

Indoor:
On the indoor front, captain Alex Drummond & manager James Oakley lead the Bedford Indoor team to promotion our of Div 1, winning every game. Next season the lads will be playing in the East Prem.

Men's 2s:
The dream team combination of coach Stefan Taylor & captain Adam Seward saw the men's 2s narrowly miss out on promotion last season, although they did have a fabulous cup run to only lose out in the final on flicks. The Men's 2s will be entering the cup again this year with promotion out of Div 2S their main goal.

Men's 3s & 4s:
The Men's 3s & 4s will have a new player coach this year, in the form of Level 3, ex-national league player Martin McLeod. These teams are pinnacle to the clubs future success as Martin looks to really push & develop the excellent young talent we already have at the club. The Men's 3s will be captained again by Josh Dixon & the Men's 4s will be captained this year by Dave Ross.

Juniors:
Talking of the young talent at Bedford, we will for the first time be entering into the England U16 championships & U18 Cup, so if you're local to Bedford and would like to know more, please contact James Oakley.

New to Hockey:
Last year we launched the newly formed Men's 5s development side into Div 9SW, which I'm very pleased to say was a great success. They won their league! As the club is seeing further growth this year we will be launching another new team into Div 9SW, which would be ideal for any father son combinations or anyone looking to come back to/take up hockey as a new sport.

Training Information:
Men's 1s & Men's 2s train on a Tuesday & Thursday night.
Men's 3s & 4s, along with club training is on a Tuesday night.
