Bedford Hockey Club is launching a new and exciting mixed hockey league competition this summer and it will be an IPL style franchise format

The BHC Franchise League will be a “serious” level of mixed hockey league running alongside the existing more “social” summer league competition. 5 teams have been created initially based on famous Bedford personalities and registered players will be evenly distributed (based on ability) among these teams so the games will all be competitive and teams inclusive. Players are now able to register to take part at https://qr135mxf0de.typeform.com/to/X5XGvW9N

This competition is geared towards players currently playing in the Men’s and Ladies 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams and will be supported by captains and coaches so younger players in these teams have great development opportunities from playing alongside more senior players. The franchise league will take place on midweek evenings and once squads are formed; players will be able to set their availability on a weekly basis via the team what’s app group.

Which team will you be rostered for?

? Harper Hornets ?
? Bunyan Blasters ?
? Radcliffe Rapids ?
? Howard Hurricanes ?
❤️ Wells Wizards ?‍♂️

With five teams, everyone would play each other twice then there would be a grand final and 3rd place play off. Players local to Bedford who play for other clubs or are back home from university would also be welcome to sign up to take part with the first games starting at the start of June. One of the big benefits of this new format will be getting to know members across the club whilst building fitness levels. The bar will be open around the fixtures utilising the new outdoor seating area with all players to ensure they are always following current social distancing guidance.
