Tom Hewitt has added to his backroom team ahead of the eagerly anticipated return of BHC Ladies 1's to the National League

Bedford Hockey Club Ladies 1’s have appointed former BHC chairman Rob Moulam as their manager for the upcoming season ahead of their return to the Investec National League East Conference.

Rob Moulam is well known to everyone at BHC having played for the club for 15 consecutive seasons, 12 of those in the role of club chairman and he is certain to bring a enthusiasm, positivity and organisation to his new role. Moulam has had successful stints in team management previously most notably when he led the BHC Mixed team to National Finals, 3 years in a row winning the England Hockey Mixed Plate competition in 2011.

Rob will work alongside first team coach Tom Hewitt who has renewed his contract after guiding the ladies 1’s to promotion in his first season at the club. Bedford lost only one match all season as they claimed the East Prem title also boasting the best attacking and defensive record in the league. Tom Hewitt spoke of his delight to secure Moulam’s services for the new season “Rob was a natural choice for our team managers role and will help support the girls on a match-day by moving many of the administrative tasks away from the captain and players which will allow them to focus solely on the game. Rob’s bubbly personality and sense of humour will help create a positive atmosphere and culture within the group as we look to retain our national league status. His experience within the club makes him an ideal person to work along side"

Over the upcoming weeks there will be further announcements from the team around their pre-season programme and some new signings. Bedford are looking to strengthen their playing squad and anyone interested should contact Ladies Club Captain Kate Costin for more information on 07513 025712 or email katecostin@btinternet.com
