Vincent Pretorius leads Bedford to win with superb man of the match display
Bedford turned up to sunny Norwich city, ready to kick start their away game campaign. Coach Taylor set out the tactics and lit the fire in the team's bellies. Both teams had a cagey start on the bouncy pitch. A very disciplined display by Simba Chigwada
holding the ball up front, playing in those around him, with Norwich looking to hit back on the counter set the tone for the first half. An own goal by the home side in the first ten minutes opened the scoring for Bedford, after good build up from Rich Evans inside the D. Norwich hit back with a well executed short corner, making it 1-1. Bedford continued to probe for the remainder of the Half, but due to a mixture of wayward passing and poor execution in the final third, Bedford failed to capitalise on their superior possession.
Bedford sprung out in the second half, looking to step up their intensity and increase the pressure on their opposition. Some individual brilliance from Charlie Axford
, weaving past a string of defenders before slotting home, put Bedford in the ascendancy and the away side didn't look back from this point. Superb combination play between the Bedford forwards saw Simba Chigwada
start and finish the move for Bedford to go 3-1 up, and then Rich Evans rounded off the scoring after Vincent Pretorius
capped a fine man of the match display by teeing up Rich Evans for the final goal of the game. It was a dominant second half performance to overcome a tricky encounter where Bedford can take confidence from their ability to break down their opponents. They will be looking to build on this as they welcome Saffron Walden to fortress Chester Road next week (2.30pm push back) and will be looking to put on a show for the loyal home support.
