After both a disappointing result and performance going down 2-1 against fellow league newcomers Maidenhead last weekend, Bedford now head into the second half of the season with a point to prove as they face Horsham, the side just 1 point and 1 place above them in the Investec East Conference.
It’s been a positive and more intensive week of training for Bedford who are lifted by the return of Katherine Winger and Kate Axford whilst Clare Beattie and Yvette Van Yperen have both recovered from back niggles to retain their places. Kelly Bingham is the only absentee through injury.
When Horsham visited Chester Road back in September it was a very much a plucky defeat for the maroons as despite shading the possession stats, Horsham were better in both circles and took maximum points with a 2-1 victory. On reflection the occasion of their long awaited National League return took focus away from the job in hand but recently Bedford have adapted and become more street wise, proving they have what it takes to win at this level with two wins against Ipswich and Harleston Magpies when the pressure was on. After a run of 6 straight defeats Horsham are on the slide and so tomorrows contest in Sussex will be a vital one for both sides. Push back at Broadbridge Heath leisure centre is at 2pm.
