After a break in the league fixtures last week, the Investec East conference returns to Chester Road with a bang this weekend as unbeaten league leaders East Grinstead with a 1pm push back.
After winning promotion from the Southern regional league, last year EG finished a very commendable second place behind Holcombe. EG have also invested significantly in their ladies set up, shown by the arrival this summer of commonwealth silver medallist Sophie Bray joining fellow internationals Kirsty Mackay and Jo Jo Davies (Barbados) as well as several players with junior international recognition as well as abundant national league experience with other clubs.

East Grinstead have five wins and two draws from their opening seven games and lead the table on goal difference from St. Albans. After two 1-0 wins on the bounce Bedford L1’s are now off the bottom of the Investec East Conference table and are within three points of fifth place (the bottom six teams are separated by just 4 points!).

The Bedford squad sees a return for Verity Mason-McLeod and also a first appearance of the season for Yvette Van Yperen who returns to the 1's after a long injury lay off. The dutch maestro scored 8 league goals last time around as Bedford took the East Prem title with a total of 15 goals in all competitions and all this despite suffering debilitating knee problems for much of the season. Van Yperen has spent much of the summer getting her knee strength back and working on her fitness in the 2's so far this season with several stand out displays.

Congratulations also to Kate Axford who followed up a maiden first team goal against Ipswich by captaining the u16 Saxon Tigers team in the Futures Cup last weekend.

BHC Squad – Leanne Sargeant, SJ Darrington, Emma Pinny, Rachel Jackson, Beth Noble, Becky Childs, Verity Mason-McLeod, Charlotte Holland, Clare Beattie, Yvette Van Yperen, Kelly Bingham, Kate Axford, Sherri Skene©, Kate Costin, Andrea Mason.
