BHC U8s travelled to Luton on Sunday, fielding 3 teams of players aged 5 to 8, some of whom had never been to a large away tournament before. A big thank you goes to all the parents who turned out on a sunny but cold morning to support and cheered every run, tackle and goal - the atmosphere was amazing and that certainly rubs off on the players.
Team 1 were unlucky not to get into the finals. After a slightly timid start they narrowly lost their first game but gained in confidence with each subsequent match and credited themselves with 4 wins and a draw. Team 2 and 3 teams played fantastically when faced some tough and experienced opposition. Nobody can fail to agree that the level of commitment and sportsmanship displayed by our young players was a credit to everyone.
Our players had a lot of fun and each one learned a lot and gained confidence as the tournament went on - with some players scoring/assisting their first competitive goals and everyone trying their very best right to the final whistle!
This season has been fantastic for the U8s with training sessions topping 30 players most weeks and sometimes reaching 40 - the largest U8 turnout we have seen.
Training this week is Sunday 10 at BHC followed by a tournament at Leighton Buzzard on 20th.
