The U10s found themselves in a rematch of the final in Luton a few weeks ago, but this time get the upper hand

Match report by coach Andy Lawrence:

I just wanted to take the time to say well done to all of the U 10's who took part in the tournament at Leighton Buzzard today. For those who couldn't make it I hope you all had a lovely mothers day.

Once again all 3 teams put in a tremendous amount of effort and with each team only having 6 players (one had 5) it meant a lot of game time but also meant that nobody had time to rest and for those players who covered an extra game for our team of 5 it was definitely a hectic schedule.

Bedford teams 1 and 3 found themselves in the same pool and both teams equipped themselves ably in the group with some tight games and great play, team 1 played really well and gained enough points to finish runners up in the group. Team 3 also played well however just missed out on progressing through.

Bedford team 2 were in a pool on their own and played some fantastic hockey to finish top of their group having played 4 and won 4 and not conceded a goal.

Unfortunately these results lead us to having an all Bedford semi final (would have been a better final Emoji) both sides played well in a good spirited game which is never easy when you have to play against friends and team mates. Bedford 2 ran out eventual winners meaning they progressed to the final while Bedford 1 got to play in a 3rd and 4th place play off.

Bedford 1 contested a close play off taking the lead against a strong Aylesbury side before they were pegged back eventually losing 2-1 and taking an excellent 4th spot on the day.

Bedford 2 took on Luton in the final and gained revenge over them for being beaten by the same team in the recent tournament in Luton, it was an excellent all round team performance with some great defending and attacking which meant that they ran out 2-0 winners . It should be mentioned that as a side they didn't concede a goal throughout the whole tournament which is a credit to them and how well they played.

I would just like to thank all the parents for their spirited support throughout it is always appreciated.

Special thanks also to Jo and Jake for looking after a team and to David and Keith for their umpiring.

Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend for training, well done again to everyone.

Andy
