After a quiet and seemingly even first 20 minutes, with both teams showing promise, Bedford took the lead as a well-placed pass from Amy Lewis was picked up and slotted in by Abi Saunders. This initial goal proved pivotal to the later success of the team, as extra confidence and team cohesion spurred multiple opportunities and a short-corner just before half time resulted in goal number 2 following the combined efforts of Alexis Broadway and Tash Aitchison.
The second half saw Bedford build on the success of the first. Despite an early goal from the opposition, and much of the team playing outside of their usual positions, Bedford demonstrated drive and swift skills to soon achieved a substantial lead. The final score was a strong 7-1 win for the girls in maroon with both slick work in attacking short corners, and well-worked plays highlighting the emerging talent across the team, resulting in further goals.
