Bedford Men’s 2XI made the journey to Hertford for a challenging away fixture, and despite a spirited performance, came away with a tough 4-2 loss.
Hertford came out strong from the whistle, quickly applying pressure and capitalising on early opportunities to take a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. Bedford gradually settled into the game, and their persistence paid off around the half-hour mark when Adam Priston fired home his first goal of the season to halve the deficit.
Going into the break at 2-1, Bedford looked to build momentum. However, Hertford struck again just 5 minutes into the second half to re-establish their two-goal cushion. Bedford didn’t back down, and only 5 minutes later, Josh Rattu opened his account for the season with a superbly taken penalty corner, rifling the ball into the top left corner to bring the score to 3-2.
With the game finely poised, Bedford pushed hard for an equaliser. But with 10 minutes remaining, Hertford caught them on the break and scored their 4th goal to put the game beyond reach.
Despite the disappointing result, Bedford’s 2XI showed determination and continued to battle until the final whistle. They’ll look to bounce back next week as they host Sudbury at Chester Road
